Overview

To ensure a retention of competitiveness of the Digital Single Market, there is a need for the continuous digitisation of European economies.

European Commission

The European Commission published a Communication on April 19, 2016. The communication looks to support and complement various policy instruments, financial support and legislation to trigger further public and private investment.

 

The European Commission followed up this initiative with a new communication in February 2020 entitled: ‘Shaping Europe’s Digital Future’, which includes the White Paper on Artificial Intelligence, the European Data Strategy and the 5G Toolbox.

European Parliament

The European Parliament adopted a resolution on June 1, 2017 aimed at developing an integrated industrial digitalisation strategy

Council of the EU

On May 29, 2017 the Council adopted conclusions on a future EU industrial policy strategy to adapt to the reality of increased digitisation.
