Overview

As part of its commitment to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, the European Commission is proposing a greenhouse gas emissions reductions of at least 50% to 55% for 2030 (from 1990 levels).

The original target for 2030 was set at a 40% reductions.

The 2030 Climate Target plan therefore  assesses  the economic, social and environmental impacts of the proposed increase in targets as well as possible policy measures to achieve proposed targets.

 

European Commission

The Commission published the Communication in March 2020.  The 2030 target plan is currently open for public consultation after the Commission delivered its inception impact assessment.
