Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Why do we wear ribbons each October? The pink ribbon is an international symbol of awareness.

In the European Union, 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer before they reach the age of 85, of which 20% will occur in women younger than 50.

The EU Cancer Plan outlines ways of making a difference within the European Union to make a difference by bringing together a wide range of actors to tackle every key stage of the disease:

  • Prevention;
  • Diagnosis;
  • Treatment;
  • Quality of life for patients and survivors.
