The LUX Award – European Films that address European Values

The film award, created 13 years ago by the European Parliament to support the distribution of European films, is being made over. From now on, audiences will be directly involved in choosing the winner and the revamped LUX Award joins forces with the European Film Academy to reach a wider audience.

To mark the change, the prize is now getting a new name: LUX European Award Film Audience.

More movies will this year be subtitled in all 24 European Union official languages. Due to the impact of COVID-19 on the film industry, this year only three films will be in the running for the award with the winner being announced in April 2021.
