First-ever International Day to Protect Education from Attack

Children’s futures are being threatened. The growing numbers of targeted attacks on schools, teachers and educational personnel, constituting grave violations of International Humanitarian Laws, are worrying.

On the occasion of the first International Day to Protect Education from Attack, the European Union reaffirmed the right to quality education for all and the importance of ensuring safe learning environments.

All of Europe needs to champion education to play its full role in addressing development of children. Good educational standards can help rebuild children’s lives, restore their sense of normality and safety, and ultimately, provide them with important life skills.
