The European Commission has recently re-proposed InvestEU, an investment programme that should help kick-start the European economy. The programme is strategically placed to fund and support the European Union in recovering both from the looming economic and social crises.
The key feature of the InvestEU programme is that of de-risking quality projects that up until now have been perceived as ‘risky’ investments. The current market uncertainty significantly compromises information and lenders’ ability to assess company viability and investments projects.
The enhanced programme will offer support to companies and ensure that investors focus on the European Union’s medium and long-term priorities such as the European Green Deal and digital transition. To tackle the current crisis in the best manner, the Commission has updated its original InvestEU proposal from 2018.
