Discussion with newly elected MEPs

A public discussion with newly elected MEPs Alex Agius Saliba, Roberta Metsola, and Josianne Cutajar themed ‘From Candidate to MEP’ was held this morning at the European Commission Representation in Malta on what is next in the European Parliament.  David Casa spoke via video message.

The discussion focused on next week’s election of the new President of the EP, a more social and sustainable Europe across the board, the minimum wage, the migration policy, EP and Maltese MEP past legislature achievements, including those in relation to emissions and single-use plastics, among other issues.

MEPs highlighted that the majority of legislations last year passed through the Civil Liberties and Environment Committees, an effective migration policy which should start off by ensuring that those persons not eligible for protection are sent back to their country of origin, and that it is vital a decision will be taken on Tuesday on who will head the EP as President.
