The ESF is the EU’s main instrument for supporting jobs, helping people get better jobs and ensuring fairer job opportunities for all EU citizens. It works by investing in Europe’s human capital – its workers, its young people and all those seeking a job.
The Programme aims to increase the employment levels of the different target groups across Malta’s socio-economic fabric. To achieve this goal, the following five Priority Axes have been identified:
(i) Investing in the employability and adaptability of human capital;
(ii) Towards a more inclusive society;
(iii) Investing in people through education, training and lifelong learning;
(iv) Building the institutional administrative capacity;
(v) Technical assistance.
Priority Axis 3 also mentions the importance of investing in post-doctoral research and fellowship programmes. The Managing Authority responsible for the above mentioned funds is the Planning and Priorities Coordination Division (PPCD).
