The Interreg Med Programme supports the sharing of experiences, knowledge, and the improvement of public policies between national, regional and local authorities and other territorial actors of eligible regions of the Mediterranean area. It includes 57 regions from 10 different EU countries (Malta, Italy, Spain, France, Cyprus, Greece, Croatia, Slovenia, Portugal and the United Kingdom) and 3 candidate countries (Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro).
The main objectives of this funding programme are:
· Strengthening research, technological development and innovation;
· Supporting the shift towards a low-carbon economy in all sectors;
· Preserving and protecting the environment and promoting resource efficiency; and
· Enhancing the institutional capacity of public authorities and stakeholders related to the implementation of the ERDF.
The Managing Authority responsible for the implementation of the MED Programme in Malta is the Funds and Programmes Division (FPD).
