Consultation Session: Environmental Impact Assessment

The Malta-EU Steering and Action Committee (MEUSAC), together with the Malta Environment & Planning Authority (MEPA) and the Ministry for Sustainable Development, the Environment and Climate Change (MSDEC) organised a consultation session on Directive 2014/52/EU, Amending Directive 2011/92/EU on the assessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the Environment.

The new EIA Directive, amending Directive 2011/92/EU, aims to strengthen the quality of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) procedure; align procedure with the principles of smart regulation; and also enhance coherence and synergies with other European Union legislation and policies, as well as strategies and policies developed by European Member States in areas of national competence.

This consultation session was held on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Europe House in Valletta.
