Delegation of junior lawyers from Munich vists MEUSAC

3 October 2017

On Tuesday, October 3, 2017 a group of 16 junior lawyers from the Regional Court of Munich visited MEUSAC. Led by Ms Julia Schwartz, the group was in Malta for familiarisation visits to the national Parliament, the European Asylum Support Office and other institutions and organisations.

MEUSAC Head Vanni Xuereb explained the role of MEUSAC both prior to Malta’s accession to the EU, its re-activation in 2008 as well as its re-establishment as an agency in May this year. He spoke of the three main roles of MEUSAC – consultation, information and EU Funding - and of its role in connecting citizens to the EU, its institutions, the national processes dealing with EU affairs, civil society and the general public.

Members of the group raised a number of issues in relation to the issue of migration, Malta’s representation in the EU institutions, and the advantages and disadvantages related to Malta as the smallest Member State in the EU.
