About Core Group
The Core Group meeting is held once a month unless there is a need to meet more often. The Prime Minister of the day attends the Core Group twice a year, in June and December, before the European Council meets.

The aim of the Core Group is to facilitate consultation between the Government, political parties, social partners, and civil society on issues related to the European Union and that have an impact on Malta.

In the past, the MEUSAC Core Group held meetings with European Commissioners, Maltese and foreign MEPS and Ministers of Finance on the National Reform Programme presented to the Commission.

The role of civil society representatives is to state the position of the organisations they are elected to represent and bring to light any issues in relation to the topic being discussed at Core Group level.

The election is held every two years. Since MEUSAC was founded, four elections took place, in 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2015.
